Goodtime Bob had a great show at Life Alive in Lowell last night. Special thanks to the Life Alive crew for being so hospitable. The food and smoothies were incredible! (Almost as great as Bob’s performance).

Also thanks to the family and friends who came out to join in the fun!

The Goodtime Stringband will be performing (from 1-4pm) at the Elegantly Green Wedding Showcase on Sunday, May 15th at the Renaissance Waterfront Hotel located in Boston, Massachusetts.

EGWS is a boutique-style wedding showcase that any engaged couple and their families can attend. You will find vendors and exhibitors that offer product(s) or service(s) that are considered “green” and/or environmentally friendly in order to plan your wedding day with little to no impact on the Earth and its resources. You’ll also have an opportunity to informally hear and meet the Goodtime Stringband in the showcase’s “Chill-lax” lounge!

The band will be appearing this Sunday evening at Fortunato’s Italian Restaurant in historic downtown Lowell, Massachusetts. Come enjoy a glass of wine with your sweetie on “Uno de Mayo.”

There is no cover charge and the music will start at 5pm. We’ll be performing a bunch of the songs/tunes we typically play at wedding celebrations and ceremonies.

Goodtimes at the Harpoon Beer-B-Q

On Sunday, November 14th, Harpoon will host the 4th annual Harpoon Helps Grateful Harvest Beer-B-Q, a fundraiser for the Greater Boston Food Bank. Harpoon’s charitable giving program, Harpoon Helps, and the New England Barbecue Society (NEBS) have joined forces to put together a Thanksgiving meal, barbecue-style, to raise money for theGreater Boston Food Bank’s annual Food Fund, which supplies Thanksgiving meals for families in and around Boston.

The competitive barbecue masters will hitch up their huge smokers, park them in front of the brewery, and smoke more than 500 pounds of turkey along with all the trimmings. In addition, the NEBS chefs will be on hand to offer attendees tips on how to make Thanksgiving meals a little more interesting this year using recipes from the menu (menu below). The dining tables will be set up family-style in a heated tent adjoining the Boston brewery so that everyone can gather around, feast, and be merry – all for a great cause. 100% of the ticket price will go to the Greater Boston Food Bank.

In addition to all-you-can-eat great food and pints of fresh beer, The Goodtime String Band will entertain guests with toe-tapping bluegrass and fiddle tunes.

3:00 PM to 4:00 PM: Passed appetizers and Harpoon beer reception
4:00 PM to 6:00 PM: Buffet-style, sit-down dinner

$55 per person. Price includes turkey & all the trimmings, 3 Harpoon beers, and a commemorative Beer-B-Q beer mug. 100% of the ticket sales will go to the Greater Boston Food Bank.

Labor day, lobsters and a fun wedding

This past labor day weekend, the band had the good fortune to be a part of Elizabeth Ann and Mike’s wedding celebration down in coastal Rhode Island. Mike is a commercial fisherman and captain, Elizabeth Ann a marine biologist. They are super-nice people and the backyard reception was a fun time with friends family and an old style New England lobster bake!

The summer lobster/clam bake involved digging a giant pit and burning wood logs in it until they were a glowing orange-red. Next, the embers were covered with a layer of fresh seaweed which was then covered with wooden trays full of live lobsters, shellfish, bagged fish fillets, corn and potatoes. Finally the food was covered with another layer of seaweed, soil, tarps and then left to bake. A few hours later, the feast was unearthed and served to the crowd. I can’t even describe how incredible it all tasted!!!

Not only does the band appear in the main movie’s climatic Forest Festival scene, but a funny shtick with Ken Jeong dancing to our version of “Cotton-Eyed Joe” appears in the DVD’s gag reel feature.

Roger Kumble’s (the director) voice-over praises the band, by name, during festival sequence’s commentary track.
