Caouette Scholarship Music Festival

Exciting news! The Caouette Music Scholarship fundraiser will be held on Sunday, November 8th, 2009 , at the Athol/Orange Elks in Orange , MA.

This 4th annual, not-to-be-missed, all-day event will be once again filled with some of New England ’s finest bluegrass & country music talent. The 7 bands performing are: Stillhouse Jammers, Acoustic Blue, Crossover, Big Apple’achia, Old Country Road , a reunion performance of the Cowtippers and Chasing Blue. Chasing Blue is a band of hot, young pickers from Berklee College of Music in Boston , including Maggie MacKay on banjo-who is a recipient of the Caouette Music Scholarship (and a member of the Goodtime Stringband)!! A Blueridge guitar will highlight the list of raffle prizes including 50/50 festival tickets, CDs, and many local gifts as well. Doors open at 11:30 am for the noon show that will go until 7pm with food concession/ refreshments and a cash bar available all day. Tickets are still only $15.00 each & available at the door .

The CAOUETTE MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP was founded in memory of Bernie Caouette, a retired Captain from the Acton Fire Department and builder of Caouette Banjos. The scholarship is available to deserving students wishing to further their education in a Music career and/or children of fire department personnel.

Thanks to the many generous donations and proceeds from the previous Bluegrass Benefit shows, 18 scholarships have been awarded to date!
